Jacob Odell

Monday, Thursday & Friday

One of the hottest teachers on the Central Coast, Jacob teaches GUITAR, BASS &UKULELE. His music styles include Rock, Blues, Classical, Jazz, Metal, Funk and Worldbeat. We are proud to have Jacob leading out teen guitar class method program. While keeping the pules of current music trends, he makes learning fun by incorporating contemporary music styles with a commitment to teaching the basics. Available for both private & group classes, Jacob teaches youth, teens, & adults.

Spencer Hutton

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

Spencer teaches BASS, GUITAR (beginning and intermediate), PIANO (beginning and intermediate) and TROMBONE (beginning).

He enjoys teaching all levels and genres of bass (electric and upright). Spencer has experience in both group (Cuesta Summer Jazz Workshop) and individual settings (private studio). He is active in composition, arranging and live performance in both the Central Coast and the LA area. He has six years of experience teaching students of all ages. Spencer is a graduate of California State University, Northridge where he received his bachelor in music in Jazz Studies with upright bass from their renowned program.

Dan Cropp

Wednesday & Thursday

Dan Cropp is an experienced teacher with knowledge of many diverse musical styles, including classical, jazz, worship, and rock. Dan started playing music on the cello at the age of 8.and not long after, Dan started learning the piano as well as the guitar. In high school, Dan continued playing all of these, adding the bass to his repertoire. The most recent additions to the stable of instruments are the violin/viola and the ukulele. Dan has played in rock bands, orchestras, worship bands, and jazz bands. Currently, he is first-call sub bassist and guitarist of Vineyard Jazz Band, a local musical group. Dan's teaching style seeks to combine rigor and tradition with a love of learning and an appreciation for diverse musical tastes. Dan will often ask students what their favorite song is or what their favorite type of music is, so that the student can learn how to play something that they like to listen to. He also keeps his students grounded with a firm knowledge of music theory, including learning how to read standard music notation. Dan is comfortable teaching students of all ages, from 4 to adult. Dan has seen improvement in all of his students, even those who started/continued music later in life. In teaching and playing, Dan always tries to keep the focus where it belongs- on the music.

Julian teaches SAXOPHONE, PIANO, and specializes in classical and jazz theory and composition. He is currently a choral accompanist at St. William’s in Atascadero, and actively composes scores for various instrumental ensembles. He carries a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, a Master of Arts degree in Music Theory and Composition, and served as studio assistant and apprentice to composer John Luther Adams. Julian enjoys sharing a wide range of musical interests and experience with his students and believes that every student is on a unique musical path that should be recognized and cultivated by the teacher.

Brett Malta

Brett has been teaching brass for many years and graduated with a degree in Music from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He strives to help students have strong fundamentals of brass playing and music making. His primary instrument is trombone and tuba, but teaches trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba. Brett has started many students on brass as well as older students and adults. You can see Brett perform in many local orchestras and Jazz groups, as well as his brass band, Brass Mash.

Robyn Saxer

Robyn teaches PIANO/KEYBOARD, VOICE, GUITAR, UKULELE  and FRENCH HORN.  She was raised in a musical family and has a lifetime of performance experience; she holds a B.A. in Drama from UC Irvine and graduated with Honors in Musical Theatre. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Robyn moved to SLO county in 2012 to mentor children and youth ages 3-18 with the local educational organization Outside Now. Classically trained, she plays in a variety of musical styles and enjoys inspiring creative exploration and play in music making with students of all ages.  She is a singer-songwriter and performs, tours, produces, and records (vocals, keyboard, ukulele, French Horn, guitar, harp, accordion, and percussion) with the local band Zen Mountain Poets.

Gail Brooks

Gail has been teaching PIANO, GUITAR, and VOICE for most of her life. she enjoys bringing students from where they are to where they want to be on their instrument. Gail loves singing and teaching harmony.
